Mobile TV demands products which are operationally flexible, straight forward to use, and robust enough to handle a demanding environment. AVP 3000 Voyager is Ericsson's sixth-generation DSNG solution and builds on 15 plus years technology leadership in Mobile Television. SD, HD and 3D operation are all supported, and a choice of codecs including MPEG-2, MPEG-4 AVC and JPEG 2000. An integrated satellite modulator offers high order DVB-S/S2 modulation on both IF and L-Band outputs. HD can be sent at high quality over fiber links. The AVP 3000 Voyager offers total operational freedom to mobile operators, allowing trucks and vans to be deployed on the widest range of bookings. This all means higher return on investment through simpler scheduling and maximum utilization. The AVP 3000 Voyager features a fully functional front panel to meet the demand of the mobile environment, including ease of operations, quick menu access, and effective monitoring. Additional FPGA, flash and memory resources offer increased horsepower to deal with current and future operational needs. The space saving 1RU form factor is ideal for mobile applications. Up to five hot swappable option slots offer MPEG-2, MPEG-4 AVC and JPEG 2000 eliminating wasteful downtime and allowing 24x7x365 operation. The ability to provide MPEG-2, MPEG-4 AVC and JPEG 2000 news and sports from a single compact product offers truck operators space savings, lower purchase costs, simpler operation and lower support costs, compared to a multi-vendor ‘mix and match’ approach. CE-X Series Option Modules The CE-x Series encoding modules represent the best choice for the highest quality video contribution. Built on in-house technology, they are optimized for the video, audio and data requirements specific to this segment. All modules are based on the same future-proof, software-upgradeable platform. This enables support for features such as 10-bit, 1080p50/60 and 3D to be added in the future at no additional hardware expense. CE-A Series Option Modules The CE-a Series encoding modules represent the highest density, multi-functional, video processing platform for Mobile applications. The ability to fit up to six hot swappable modules within a single AVP 3000 Voyager chassis enables functionality to be changed or upgraded, future proofing investment. CE-aJ2K Series Option Modules New JPEG 2000 option allows low latency, high quality HD contribution over low cost fiber Ethernet links. This additional codec options gives the Contribution Encoder the widest choice of compression technologies on the market, allowing operators to further enhance the overall usability of this unit and maximize productivity. AVP Configuration Pack Options AVP Configuration Pack Options DVB-CID Compliant DVB-CID: All AVP 3000 Voyager units and even older Voyager II units are DVB-CID capable. DVB-CID is a method of embedding a unique identification code on the output of a satellite modulator. The WBU-ISOG recommends that all new satellite modulators should support DVB-CID from 1 January 2015. This functionality will be provided as part of AVP release V9.11. The purpose of DVB-CID is to allow the source of a satellite transmission to be easily identified, and so make it easier to resolve any signal interference problems. It does this by embedding a unique identification code on to the transmitted carrier. The WBU-ISOG passed a resolution that by 1 January 2015 all new modulators purchased for video up-linking should support DVB-CID, and that by 1 January 2018 all transmissions shall use DVB-CID. Additionally in the USA the FCC have amended 47 CFR Part 25 – Satellite Communications.281 Automatic Transmitter Identification System (ATIS) to require as of 1 June 2016 that all ad-hoc satellite video transmissions shall use DVB-CID. All AVP 3000 Voyager units and even older Voyager II units are capable of supporting DVB-CID. DVB-CID functionality will be available in software release V9.11 currently scheduled for December 2014. This new functionality will not require the purchase of an additional software license. Older Voyager units such as E5714, E5740, E5784, E5788 cannot be upgraded to add DVB-CID support.
